Efdemin's latest album, Decay, is a masterful exploration of the intersection between techno and ambient music. The tracks on this album are characterized by their intricate soundscapes, which are built up through layers of atmospheric synths, pulsing basslines, and glitchy percussion.
One of the standout tracks on the album is "Oh, Lovely Appearance of Death," which features haunting vocals from Norwegian artist Anne-James Chaton. The track is a slow-burning meditation on mortality, with Chaton's voice floating over a sparse, melancholy backdrop of strings and subtle beats.
Another highlight is "Black Sun," which builds up a hypnotic groove through a series of intricate rhythms and swelling synths. The track is a testament to Efdemin's skill as a producer, as he manages to create a dense, immersive sound without ever losing sight of the underlying groove.
